And what a difference it made. Me, my ipod, and espresso (double straight, flat whites don't exist and lattes are lots of brown milk) made our way to Green Park where I sat and watched London go by, it really is something...pigeons, tourists, people all wrapped up and kids running around. ahhhh. Then I headed to meet an ole mate Mel and her partner at the Ritz (as you do) then headed off to explore and soak up London. We ended up in Covent Garden where we sat with ciders, in the sun, on a deck and watched all the street performers in the square. Magic, magic, magic...sometimes (actually most of the time) it is all so surreal. The hussle, the crowds, the beggars (some who still manage to have money for smokes and alcohol) the fact no one smiles on the tube...We then headed down to Trafalgar Square and I bounced around with excitement, wandered down to the Thames and down to Victoria station where I headed to another mates. I really can't describe this all...before I left someone said to me (cheesy I know) but this quote..."life is not about how many breaths you take, but the moments in life that take your breath away", there are so bloody many of them here. Heart skipping moments...well maybe that's cause I am a dorky tourist and aren't "tres cool London baby" just yet. hahah I don't care.
Headed to my friends Sarah's and we went to bowling for a guy James' birthday..it was like the matrix man! esculators and blue neon...crazy!!! Like a massive Time Out except you could drink. ha. So we spent the night out with a massive crew from NZ, which I know everyone says don't do (the whole only hang with Kiwis thing) but it is incredibly comforting sometimes having a big hug and chat with someone that calls you bro. hee hee. Happy Days.
Just home now and off to China Town for Chinese New Year. I love the motivation you seem to get here...there is so much to see, on Fri night we went to a light show on the Thames...in a month off to a party in Paris. Nuts. Don't want to miss a second. Although my snuggly bed feels rather nice right now.
Here are pics from my last couple of days. I do miss you all at home, yesterday when I woke up it reminded me of summer mornings in NZ when you hop out of the shower and the fresh air smells so good as it rushes through the windows and along the wooden floors. And how on summer days everyone would pile in the car and head out to the beach, beers, sunblock, sand in your hair. Enjoy it people, I miss you and love you all so very much - as much as I love my new fav breakfast of rolled oats with soy milk and natural yogurt, banana and honey. mmmm (you'd love it Robin).
Cheerio kisses, cuddles and lots of warm fuzzies.
Me xxxxoooo
