Oh the weekend that was Amsterdam. Ahh. Bliss. Arrived on Friday night and went out with some animators from New York that Rosita had been working with in a beautiful restaurant. Rosita's place is absolutely beautiful, overlooking Amsterdam, equiped with a roof top balcony and light scultures from the ceiling and a wall with a tropical island on it that wraps the stairwell.
On sat we headed on a merry way to the markets on bikes, in the sun, all very cool. The food and cheese and smells and flowers and quaintness of it all was rather magic. When then zoomed all around up and down canals, to design stores and trinket stores where we filled bags with art and books and treats for people back home. Bags on our arms we negotiated our way home on our bikes, where we made a platter of food, sat back, chatted for hours and drunk red wine on the rooftop overlooking Amsterdam.
After dancing and drinking and loads of conversation - we then headed out to town, with Rosita's Italian flattie and his friends to a "coffee shop"...mmm enough said really.
The next day up early and we were off again on our bikes to The Van Gogh Museum, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh what can I say? After all those years at Elam together and all that art we had to write 8 page essays on there was alot of squealing, gasping of breath, and teary eyes. IT WAS AMAZING.
We then potted around to the redlight district, which was disturbing to say the least - naked girls dancing in windows, and oh so touristy, not so nice, rather disturbing and lots of drung munted people.
We headed back for another round cheese and wine and sun and finished it off with chocolates and peppermint tea in bed. The next day was home to London - absolutely gutted. We did though, manage to go to the best apple pie place in Amsterdam for brekkie. Makes me realise how much I miss having a best mate with me here. So very very cool. Yay!
Over and out.
